this works on OS X Server 10.5~

boot into single user mode with boot options

Code: Select all

-s

mount the hard drive

Code: Select all

/sbin/fsck -fy

Code: Select all

/sbin/mount -uw /

remove the "setup has been completed" file

Code: Select all

rm /var/db/.applesetupdone

then just exit and it reboots

exit

now you can add the admin password to administrate the server
you can also add users quickly with passwords
