If you do a WMC 8.1 install, it will crash with the MS drivers guaranteed.
Downloading the AMD ATI detection from their site works wonders.
Code: Select all
Ati drivers download
choose step 1-> notebook graphics
then choose step 2 -> autodetect and install
and use the detection program, download it, and install it as express. When you reboot it will do the gaming experience scan and voila, it works perfectly. Otherwise the actual MS detection updates will make the screen be completely scrambled. Sometimes it will crash-reboot as well.
The wireless WIFI and LAN auto install in a fresh version of 8.1 flawlessly.
Touchscreen capabilities auto install.
The camera automatically works as well.
Download skype for desktop from google, do not use the STORE version, it is buggy currently. test the camera to see it installed with vanilla win 8.1. awesome.
The realtek Card reader drivers for Win 8.1 are trash on the HP. Instead dropdown the OS to Win 8 and choose this:
Code: Select all
Realtek Card Reader Driver

The IDT High-Definition HD Audio Driver should be installed as well, but it will work fine without it. Use the WIN8 driver, not the WIN8.1 driver presently
Code: Select all
IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver
