3ds max 2010 radeon 4650 agp hardware shadow problem

I have noticed that on systems with an xfx radeon 4650 agp card (1gb) that realtime shadows in dx9 and dx10 will almost freeze the system up completely. turn off the hardware acceleration for shadow casting and voila, you can model as normal. there might be a problem with xfx's design, or the 4xxx agp series in general.

Most of the problems are in windows 7 with aero on or off. so it isn't an aero compatibility or crossover bug. Nvidia 9800gtx+ 512mb works flawlessly with hardware shadows and all extras in preview windows in the 3ds GUI. As more tests on different systems are made, I will update this.

3ds max 2010 sp1
radeon 4650 agp 1gb

turn off hardware shadows as you most likely will find the freezing bug in the dx or dll programming.
