I created a virtual reality show at The Franklin Institute with equipment donated from PVRC after returning from SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles and meeting with Digital Domain and PDI recruiters. The show had an SGI Octane, and a Reality Engine. For interactive vr, head tracked vr units had stereo lcd with stereo monitors and a flock of birds systems with a hand tracking system was implemented. With the help of my friend and assistant, Pete Andruckewicz, I was able to produce a show that lasted 1 year in the Institue in it's own theatre space named 'Cutting Edge Gallery'. Presently, The Institue had taken this model further and made a full theatre with a large seating setup for 3d interaction and thrill rides.
With the new wave of human controller interfaces, in 2007-8 I created a 3d headset that could employ the algorithms of either Neurosky or Emotiv. The concept was to create a comfortable but encompassing headset, and the new trend is micro items, so the durable design is just a beta. If you have an interest in thought controlled PC system headsets and setups I can build you a system and also have classes on the packages that both companies release as SDKs for their units.
